The Calderstones Mansion in Liverpool is home to The Reader Organisation. As Project Manager I worked on the reopening of the headquarters after its refurbishment and rebuild.
The Mansion House at Calderstones Park had been closed for three years after a £5m refurbishment. When it reopened, it would have new spaces for people to enjoy, including a new Storybarn and Ice Cream Parlour as well as performance space.
An Open House Weekend would give visitors a first glimpse of the building, with various activites taking palce to show people what The Reader worked on and how they could enjoy the new building.
In the weeks before the opening, this involved working with The Reader’s various teams to plan their activity and manage the resources they would need. Managing the budget and working with the facilities and tech team ensured the space would be ready.
With different activities and a running order like readings, craft activity it was important to keep the vast numbers of visitors engaged during the two days of the weekend.
The Friday evening saw a VIP launch at lunch and a launch with Friends of The Reader in the evening.
